B.D.M. INTERNATIONAL PRESENTS VELOCITY 2.0 – AN INNOVATIVE INTER-HOUSE BUSINESS IDEA PRESENTATION COMPETITION
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.” – Henry Ford’s words perfectly encapsulate the spirit of VELOCITY, the Inter-House Business Idea Presentation Competition, held for the second time at B.D.M. International on 27th September 2024. The event, aptly named “VELOCITY,” was designed to inspire young minds to think like entrepreneurs, bringing forward creative solutions for real-world challenges.
The competition began with an inspiring address by the Principal, Ms. Madhumita Sengupta, setting the tone for an engaging and innovative experience. A distinguished panel of judges graced the event: Mr. Vivek Maheswari, a Chartered Accountant and finance professional; Ms. A. Anusha, Consultant at Ernst & Young India LLP specializing in Business Risk Consulting; and Mr. Vishwajeet Banick, Manager (Eastern Region) at NSE Academy and an expert in business development. Their presence added immense value and gravitas to the event.
Twenty-six Senior Secondary students from four houses competed, each representing innovative business concepts that showcased their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Among the teams, Safe Strands proposed an advanced solution for women’s safety, while Lunchbox focused on promoting healthy food and empowering homemakers. Lifeline-24×7 offered rapid medical emergency services, and A.I. Automated Farming Pods aimed to revolutionize farming, making it more efficient and profitable. A.L.L.Y. presented affordable, multi-purpose drones, Rikto worked on simplifying transportation, and Aesthetic Beads.in specialized in customised handmade bead jewellery. Each presentation captivated the audience, showcasing not only the creativity of the ideas but also the exceptional presentation skills and persuasive abilities of the teams, along with their poise in answering challenging questions from the jury. Additionally, some teams brought prototypes, adding a hands-on element to the competition.
Despite the close contest, Aesthetic Beads.in from Unity House emerged as the winner, impressing the judges with their unique and market-ready concept. A.L.L.Y., also from Unity House, secured second place with their innovative drone solution, while Safe Strands took third, presenting an impactful idea around women’s safety.
The event concluded with an insightful feedback session from the judges, motivating the young entrepreneurs to continue nurturing their ideas and to aim to be job creators in a world full of job seekers.
VELOCITY 2.0 proved to be a platform where these future leaders could gain the confidence to believe in their ideas and strive for success.
